Hello and Welcome to Conscious Observations

Be Here Now

Conscious Observations will be the place I can share thoughts, resources, and good news as I work to consciously pay attention to the individual moments in my life and career using mindfulness.  This is a big order, trying to live in the present moment and sharing that with the world.  There will be moments of success and moments of failure, but hopefully, there will be many moments in-between between learning and growth; moments full of interesting thoughts and discussions among us.

In addition, I’ll use this space to keep us up-to-date on the research and news surrounding Mindfulness!  This alone could keep someone busy!  If we are taking the word “News” literally, let’s just start by taking a quick look at the people delivering us the news that has come out saying they do Mindfulness or meditation.

First, there was Dan Harris, co-anchor of Nightline and the weekend edition of Good Morning America.  He released his book 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works – A True Story, in March 2014.  Since then he’s been very outspoken about how meditation has helped him.  You can find lots of interviews with him online, but here’s a recent interview with Dan Harris and Sam Harris, http://www.samharris.org/blog/item/taming-the-mind

Anderson Cooper, did a 60 Minutes segment in December 2014, in which he actually attended a silent retreat with Jon Kabat-Zinn and talked about it.  http://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-newly-mindful-anderson-cooper/

And just yesterday I admit to watching the Chew while making my lunch and there was George Stephanopoulos talking about how he meditates every morning!  He does Transcendental Meditation, which is slightly different than Mindfulness, but hey one more person who isn’t embarrassed to say to the world, I meditate.  http://www.businessinsider.com/george-stephanopoulos-morning-ritual-meditation-2014-12

If this is intriguing to you, you will want to follow the blog and my website to watch for classes, projects, and lots of other ways to interact and learn.
